What happens during a head spa?
A head spa has three steps, all at the wash basin:
- Scalp cleansing at the head spa basin.
- A gentle massage of the scalp and head.
- A nourishing treatment for the scalp and hair.

Does a head spa include a shampoo?
A head spa includes scalp cleansing at the basin, one of its three steps.
How is a head spa different from a salon wash?
At a salon the wash comes before a cut or color. In a head spa the scalp cleansing comes with the scalp massage and the nourishing treatment, and nothing is cut.
Will my hair be wet after a head spa?
Plan on damp hair after a head spa: our head spa menu lists no blow-dry or styling, so it fits best at the end of your day.

How long is a head spa, and what does it cost?
Our head spa is 45 minutes for $79 or 75 minutes for $129, and both book online. On the $9.99 monthly membership, a 60-minute head massage and head spa is $72, booked by phone or at the front desk.
Which is the best head spa length for a first visit?
Start with 45 minutes. It shows you all three steps, and it is the head spa length in our massage combos if you later want one with a body massage.
Can I add a head spa to a massage?
Two combos include the full 45-minute head spa. With a 60-minute body massage it is $145 for 105 minutes, booked online; with a 60-minute body massage and a 40-minute facial cleanse it is $219 for 145 minutes, booked by phone.

How is a head spa different from a facial or a scalp massage?
A head spa cleanses and treats the scalp and hair, a facial works on the skin of the face, and the $10 scalp massage add-on is massage only, added to another booking.
| Service | What the menu lists | How you book it |
|---|---|---|
| Head spa | Scalp cleansing, gentle massage, nourishing treatment | On its own, or in a combo with a body massage |
| Scalp massage add-on | Scalp massage with lavender or peppermint | $10, added to another service |
| Facial cleansing with mask | Cleanse, exfoliating mask, facial massage, hydration | On its own, 45 minutes for $75 |
Is a head spa the same as a head massage?
A head massage covers only the massage. A head spa adds scalp cleansing at the basin and the nourishing treatment, so when another menu lists a head massage, ask whether a wash comes with it.
— 05
What should I tell the therapist before a head spa?
Tell the therapist how firm you want the scalp massage, and mention any of these before the session starts:
- A cut, scab, rash, sunburn or sore patch on your scalp.
- An allergy to fragrance or to any hair or skin product.
- A stiff neck or an old neck injury. After neck or back surgery, get your surgeon's OK first.
- A pregnancy. Check with your obstetrician or midwife before booking, and for a body massage book the prenatal massage.
The menu calls the scalp massage gentle; ask for lighter or firmer at any point.

Who should see a dermatologist before a head spa?
Anyone with hair loss, a sore or painful scalp, persistent flaking or itching, or a rash on the scalp should see a dermatologist first and book the head spa after that visit.
If anything on your scalp is new, painful or getting worse, see a doctor before you book; a head spa is no reason to put that off. Our head spa is a beauty and relaxation service and does not diagnose, treat or cure any scalp or hair condition.
