Do I need my doctor's OK before a prenatal massage?
Yes. Ask your obstetrician or midwife before you book, and ask again before a later visit if you come back in another trimester.
Take three questions to that appointment:
- Is massage fine for me at this point in the pregnancy?
- Is there a position I should avoid lying in?
- Is there an area the therapist should leave alone?
Ask the same about foot reflexology, a head spa, a facial or any add-on you want, and tell the therapist which ones were cleared. Federal health guidance names pregnancy among the special circumstances that may affect the safety of mind and body practices, a group that includes massage.
We are a massage spa: a prenatal massage here is meant to help you relax alongside your prenatal care, and we do not diagnose or treat any condition.

What happens in a prenatal massage?
A prenatal massage here is adjusted for pregnancy, and we take extra precautions during the session. Your therapist first asks what you want from it and walks you through what to expect.
What is the best position for a prenatal massage?
The best position for a prenatal massage is the one your obstetrician or midwife approves and you find comfortable now. Tell your therapist how you sleep most comfortably at this stage and any position you were told to avoid, and the two of you settle it before the massage begins. The pressure stays inside any limit your provider set.
If you usually book Swedish or deep tissue, book the prenatal massage instead for as long as you are pregnant, so we know before you arrive.

What should I tell the massage therapist when I'm pregnant?
When you book, tell us how many weeks along you are and what your obstetrician or midwife said about massage. Before the massage starts, name any area to leave alone and the pressure you want; during it, speak up if a position or the pressure stops feeling right.
New swelling, pain or a complication since you booked? Check with your provider before you come in. Never had a massage before? The first massage guide covers the visit from check-in on.

Can my partner get a massage at the same time?
Yes, if two therapists are free at that hour. Call (470) 549-2020 to book both times on one call, and ask then whether your prenatal massage can be given in the couples room.
Your partner's 60-minute Swedish or deep tissue massage is $80.
